Our Story
Chef Mehmet Ak began his professional journey in Türkiye, where early career experiences in fast-paced and highly disciplined environments shaped his analytical mindset and entrepreneurial spirit.
In the early 2000s, he transitioned into the culinary world, combining precision, systems thinking, and a deep curiosity about human health and nutrition. This transformation eventually led him to found Raw Gourmets International in Chicago in 2005, an initiative dedicated to advancing raw, plant-based cuisine through education, innovation, and community programs.
Over the years, Raw Gourmets International has grown into a platform that connects culinary education, wellness, and sustainable food systems, inspiring individuals to explore the healing power of living foods.
Who Is Chef Mehmet Ak
Chef Mehmet Ak is a raw vegan chef, educator, and wellness advocate who has dedicated his life to teaching the principles of plant-based nutrition, living foods preparation, and holistic lifestyle design.
Through years of culinary research and teaching, he has mentored chefs, wellness seekers, and food entrepreneurs across the United States and internationally.

A Transformational Health Journey
Chef Mehmet’s work is deeply inspired by his own personal transformation.
Before discovering plant-based living, he struggled with low energy and significant weight gain, reaching approximately 255 pounds.
Through a commitment to raw vegan nutrition and lifestyle changes, he lost more than 100 pounds and experienced a profound shift in health, vitality, and clarity.
This personal transformation became a cornerstone of his mission—to help others discover food as a pathway to healing, energy, and conscious living.
